OUR FINANCES

We remain a small registered charity in terms of our income. Like so many charities during the pandemic, our donations have dropped, as fundraising opportunities closed down. We do need money to continue our valuable work for the group of people we aim to support, for whom, all too frequently there is no provision.

We rely on private donations to keep our work going, on fundraising by our supporters, and on legacies. Our overheads are deliberately kept very low – chiefly comprising our annual accountancy fee and our insurance. We do not pay for office accommodation, and we have no paid staff, all our work is carried out by a small band of very dedicated volunteers.

Please would you consider giving us a donation? You can do this via our website, or you can send a cheque, made out to Hope for Home, and sent to 32 Foxes Dale, Blackheath, London, SE3 9BQ.

HOPE FOR HOME ANNOUNCES EXCITING NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH AGE UK LAMBETH!

In May 2021 Hope for Home signed a new agreement to work in partnership with Age UK Lambeth. Age UK will be running two weekly drop-in centres for people with dementia and their carers, continuing the Magnolia Club in Gipsy Hill, and adding an exciting new venue in Brixton. Moreover, they have agreed to add an additional third venue at no extra cost!

The Board of Hope for Home are delighted with this new partnership. We believe that Age UK Lambeth’s strong established roots in the community together with their excellent reputation for delivering high-class services to their local community will complement our support for people caring for their loved one with dementia at home.

Kim Connell, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Age UK Lambeth said: “We are very delighted about this exciting new partnership with Hope for Home! We are passionate about delivering new services to help unpaid carers looking after their loved ones with dementia in our local community. This group are so often very neglected and under-supported for their invaluable contributions. They may be very hidden, and carry on their role day after day, week after week, with little contact from others. This situation has been made much more challenging in these times of Covid. Several of our staff have already been trained in the Namaste approach, via St Joseph’s Hospice in Hackney, and we are all very keen to start these exciting new projects.”

These groups started in early August 2021, and are funded for one calendar year.
