NATIONAL CARERS WEEK 2010
NATIONAL CARERS WEEK 2010

Carers Week Starts This Week !!

This week  marks the start of National Carers Week 2010. Carers Week (14-20 June) highlights the fantastic contribution of carers across the UK. It campaigns for more recognition and a better life for the UK’s six million unpaid carers.

This year the theme is ‘a life of my own’. Looking after for loved ones can be very time-consuming. For many carers leisure time feels like an impossible luxury, and they do not have the crucial breaks they need. We want this to change.

As we mentioned last month, Hope for Home wants you to get in touch during Carers Week 2010. We want to hear your story.  If you are caring for someone with dementia, advanced Parkinson’s or a related illness, make your voice heard!

Email home@hopeforhome.org.uk  or call us on 020 8463 0128. Real life stories are vital to demonstrate carers’ important work, and to highlight the needs of those who provide and receive care. Our staff at Hope for Home can also offer you expert advice and support.

We’re also encouraging people to ‘Knock on a Neighbour’s Door’. If you know someone who is looking after a loved one with dementia show them you are willing to help.

While they may not always need immediate assistance, people will soon recognise the value of having someone there for them. So be a good neighbour during Carers Week and beyond. Give it a try!
